Writers Journey
Kirk started screenwriting when he was only 22 years old. In 1997, his 2nd script was optioned by Lionsgate/Crescent Entertainment when he was just 24. The project became encumbered and was never put into production. He was heartbroken, but he has never stopped writing. Over the years several of his original screenplays were optioned, but none of them made it into production. Down, but not out, in 2010 he decided to self finance one of his own screenplays. The film turned out much better than anyone could ever have expected. Since then he has self financed two more of his own films and been a featured writer for Movie Maker Magazine.

He is also internationally recognized for writing ASURA (2018) -- the first $150 Million production ever shot in China and one of the most high profile films of the decade. The project was featured on the front cover of the Hollywood Reporter at Cannes in 2017 and released across China in 2018. On opening night the online movie rating sites in China were attacked by bots and bloggers and the film was pulled from theatres. The future of the movie is unknown, but Kirk's talent and experience as a screenwriter, and his ability to work under extreme pressure is now part of China's filmmaking history.
